Crunchyroll announced the addition of the movie to its streaming platform, allowing viewers to experience the story through four episodes.

The film made its grand debut on Valentine’s Day, February 14, to rave reviews from both fans and critics alike.

Beyond the initial cast returning, the sequel introduced Toshiyuki Miyata, known for his role in the boy band Kis-My-Ft2. He lent his talents as Hiroshi Hongo and became a promotional ambassador for the film, amplifying its reach and impact. The addition of Miyata brought a fresh energy to the series, appealing to both the existing fanbase and newcomers.

Accompanying the narrative is an enchanting theme song, “Otona ni Narenai” (“I Can’t Grow Up”), performed by the talented Kujira. Notably, Kujira also contributed to the original series as both the opening and ending theme artist, creating a cohesive musical experience across both iterations of the story, allowing fans to enjoy a seamless auditory journey.

Originally premiering in July 2024, the series aired consecutively on Noitamina programming block and aired on Fuji TV and other channels, accumulating a total of 12 episodes. This arrangement highlights Crunchyroll’s commitment to delivering diverse and high-quality content to its global audience.

The Senpai wa Otokonoko franchise has garnered significant attention and accolades. The original manga, created by Pom, initially graced the pages of the LINE Manga app in 2019 and touted high ratings and popularity. Ichijinsha officially published the manga’s 10th and final compiled book volume in October 2024. Chaotic and beautifully romantic, the manga topped the “Manga We Want to See Animated” poll in 2022, showcasing its pivotal role in shaping the anime landscape.

Notably, the director of the series Shinsuke Yanagi, known for his work on Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki and The Ryuo’s Work Is Never Done!, helmed the project at project No.9. Shōto Shinkai handled character design and key visual artistry, while Yoriko Tomita crafted the series script. The musical scores, resonating through each frame of the series, were expertly composed by Yukari Hashimoto, adding depth to the story’s emotional undertones.
