Assassination Classroom Manga Returns with 2026 Anime Film Adaptation

The latest edition of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced an exciting new film adaptation for Yūsei Matsui’s beloved Assassination Classroom manga series. Titled Gekijōban Ansatsu Kyōshitsu Minna no Jikan (Assassination Classroom the Movie: Everybody’s Time), this project commemorates the anime’s 10th anniversary and will premiere in Japanese theaters on March 20, 2026.

Fans can look forward to seeing brand new promotional materials for the upcoming film, with a special video announcement scheduled for release soon. The magazine unveiled an exclusive visual previewing the project’s style and tone.

This cinematic adaptation will feature previously unadapted material from the original manga series, including storylines that couldn’t be included in the television anime due to time constraints. Creator Yūsei Matsui emphasized that this isn’t simply a commemorative project, but rather an expansion of the core narrative.

The original serialization of Matsui’s popular manga ran from 2012 through 2016 in Weekly Shonen Jump. The story previously received two successful anime seasons – a 22-episode first season in 2015 followed by a 25-episode second season in 2016, culminating in a theatrical film that same year.

The franchise expanded beyond manga and anime with two live-action films released in March 2015 and March 2016, demonstrating the enduring popularity of this unique story about students training to assassinate their extraordinary teacher.

The upcoming 2026 film promises to bring fresh content to long-time fans while potentially introducing new audiences to this acclaimed series. With its combination of action, comedy, and heartfelt drama, Ansatsu Kyōshitsu continues to evolve more than a decade after its debut.
