Amo’s character adds an extra layer of intrigue to the series, which revolves around Rudo, a young man living in the slums of a floating town. When he is wrongfully accused of murder and exiled down into the Pit, he must overcome countless challenges and battle monstrous creatures to seek vengeance and find the truth.

The Story of Gachiakuta

Rudo’s life takes a drastic turn when he is falsely accused of murder. Sentenced to exile off the edge of the floating town, he is thrown into the Pit, a harsh environment teeming with monsters formed from the waste cast off by the affluent upper class living above. To survive, Rudo must harness a newfound power and join a group known as the Cleaners. Together, they fight the hulking trash beasts of the Pit, with Rudo’s ultimate goal being to uncover the truth behind his false accusation and exact revenge on those responsible.

The Team Behind “Gachiakuta”

The anime boasts an impressive production team:

  • Fumihiko Suganuma, known for his work as unit director for “The First Slam Dunk” and chief episode director for “Train to the End of the World,” is directing the anime at BONES.

  • Hiroshi Seko, who has contributed to hit series like “Chainsaw Man,” “Vinland Saga,” and “Mob Psycho 100,” is in charge of the series scripts.

  • Satoshi Ishino, responsible for character designs and serving as chief animation director, has previously worked on “Date A Live,” “Captain Earth,” and “Release the Spyce.”

  • Taku Iwasaki, a renowned composer for “Bungo Stray Dogs” and “Shin Kamen Rider,” is composing the music for “Gachiakuta.”

Since its debut on July 6 in Japan on CBC and TBS, alongside 26 other channels, Crunchyroll is streaming the anime across multiple territories. These include North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS (excluding Russia and Belarus), and the Indian subcontinent. Complementing the original Japanese broadcast, Crunchyroll is also offering a simultaneous English dub.

The “Gachiakuta” manga, authored by Kei Urana with graffiti designs by Hideyoshi Ando, began its serialisation in “Weekly Shonen Magazine” in February 2022, with Kodansha USA Publishing releasing the series in English. The manga’s 15th compiled book volume hit the shelves on June 17, with readers worldwide eagerly following Rudo’s harrowing journey.
