A New Dawn in Anime: The Upcoming “Zombie x Youth Comedy” Series

In the ever-evolving landscape of anime, a fresh and exciting project is on the horizon. Fans of the unique blend of horror and comedy are in for a treat with the upcoming television anime adaptation of “#Zombie Sagashitemasu,” also known as “#I’m Looking For Zombie.” This series, based on the manga by Katsuwo, is set to premiere in 2026.

The story unfolds in a world ravaged by a deadly disease that has transformed 90 percent of the human population into zombies. Thirteen years after the catastrophic “Red Day,” when society and civilization collapsed, the remaining humans have retreated from the big cities, hoping to reclaim them someday. A new generation, unaware of the world before the outbreak, is now coming of age. The narrative kicks off with Aki, accompanied by her friends Haru and Natsuki, embarking on a quest to find Aki’s missing father.

Katsuwo, the talented creator behind this intriguing manga, launched it in Kadokawa’s Comic Dengeki DaiohG magazine in June 2022. The third and final volume was published in January 2024, leaving fans eager for more. The manga’s unique premise and engaging characters have already garnered a dedicated following, making the anime adaptation highly anticipated.

Katsuwo is no stranger to successful anime adaptations. Their previous work, “Mitsuboshi Colors,” was adapted into a television anime that premiered in January 2018. The series was streamed as it aired in Japan, further cementing Katsuwo’s reputation in the industry.

Another notable work by Katsuwo is “Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu,” which began serialization in the inaugural issue of Comic Dengeki DaiohG in September 2013. The manga concluded in April 2021, with the eighth and final volume published in June 2021. This series also received a television anime adaptation, which aired in April 2019 and was streamed internationally.

The upcoming “Zombie x Youth Comedy” series promises to deliver a fresh take on the zombie genre, blending humor and horror in a way that only Katsuwo can. With a compelling storyline and relatable characters, this anime is sure to captivate audiences worldwide.
