Exciting New Additions to the Cast of “You and I Are Polar Opposites” Anime
The highly anticipated anime adaptation of the popular romantic comedy manga “You and I Are Polar Opposites” has announced two more cast members. The upcoming television series, supported by the ABEMA Anime Festival 2025 and Comic C’moA, is set to premiere in January 2026. Fans can look forward to the unique blend of humor and heartfelt moments that the manga is known for, now brought to life on screen.
The latest additions to the voice cast include Miyuri Shimabukuro and Wataru Katō, who will bring depth and charm to their respective roles.
Miyuri Shimabukuro will voice Azuma, a character described as a mature-minded girl in Suzuki and Tani’s class. Despite her jaded demeanor, Azuma has yet to experience a proper romantic relationship, adding layers of complexity to her personality.

Wataru Katō will portray Taira, a boy in the same class with a cynical attitude. Taira often compares himself to others, leading to feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. His character promises to add a relatable and introspective element to the story.

The anime will also feature Sayumi Suzushiro as Suzuki and Shōgo Sakata as Tani, the central characters of the story. Other notable cast members include Yuna Taniguchi as Watanabe, Konatsu Hirabayashi as Sato, and Anji Iwata as Yamada.

The series will be directed by Takakazu Nagatomo at Lapin Track, with Teruko Utsumi handling the scripts and serving as the animation producer. Mako Miyako will design the characters, while Naho Kozono and Sayuri Sakimoto will serve as sub-character designers and chief animation directors. The music will be composed by tofubeats, adding an emotional depth to the narrative.
Chieko Nakamura will direct the art, with Tomoyuki Shiokawa as the compositing director of photography. Yuki Akimoto will be the color key artist, and Yuushi Koshida will serve as the 3D director. Masayuki Kurosawa will handle editing, and Wataru Osakabe will oversee 2D design. The production will be managed by SHOCHIKU anime.
The manga, originally written by Kōcha Agasawa, was launched on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform in May 2022. It initially debuted as a one-shot in January 2021 and concluded in November 2024. The series has garnered significant popularity, with over 1.45 million copies in circulation, including digital copies. It also ranked highly in the Manga Taisho Awards, securing the third position in 2023 and the seventh position in 2024.
Fans can enjoy the series on Crunchyroll as it airs, making it accessible to a global audience. The story revolves around Suzuki, an energetic girl who is drawn to Tani, a quiet boy who can easily express his thoughts. This relatable rom-com is sure to captivate viewers with its heartwarming and humorous take on love and relationships.
