The highly anticipated third season of the anime adaptation of Yoshitoki Oima’s manga “To Your Eternity” has unveiled a new promotional video and an expanded cast list. The video offers a sneak peek at the opening theme song, “Fumetsu no Anata” (Your Eternity), composed by Yasutaka Nakata, the sound producer for the popular Japanese techno-pop group Perfume. The song was specifically created for this season, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans. Perfume recently announced an indefinite hiatus starting next year.

Reiji Kawashima and Kenjirล Tsuda will reprise their roles as Fushi and The Observer, respectively. Tomori Kusunoki, who voiced Hisame in the second season, will return as Mizuha, a popular second-year middle school student known for her academic and athletic prowess. Megumi Han, who voiced Torta in the previous season, will return as Yลซki Aoki, a first-year middle school student and vice-president of the Occult Research Club. New to the cast, Yumiri Hanamori will voice a mysterious boy named Satoru.

Sลta Yokote, known for his work on various anime series, will make his directorial debut with this season at Drive and STUDIO MASSKET. Kiyoko Sayama, who directed the second season, will serve as the chief director for the new season. Returning staff members include Shinzล Fujita overseeing the series scripts, Koji Yabuno designing the characters, Ryo Kawasaki composing the music, and Takeshi Takadera directing the sound.
The third season was first announced in March 2023 and will continue with the “This World” arc. The second season premiered on NHK Educational in October 2022 and was streamed worldwide by Crunchyroll, except in Asia. The first season debuted on NHK Educational in April 2021, after being delayed from its original October 2020 premiere due to COVID-19 production issues.
Oima launched the manga in November 2016 in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The first arc ended in December 2019, the second arc ran from January 2020 to October 2022, and the third arc began in January 2023, concluding in this year’s 27th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine on June 4. The manga’s 25th and final compiled book volume was released in Japan on August 12.
Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English, describing it as a unique and moving story about death, life, reincarnation, and the nature of love. The manga won the Best Shonen Manga award at the 43rd annual Kodansha Manga Awards and was recognized by the American Library Association’s Young Adult Library Services Association’s 2019 list of Great Graphic Novels for Teens.
