Steel Ball Run Anime: Cast Revealed, Teaser Unveiled, 2026 Release Date Announced

The upcoming anime adaptation of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run” has generated significant buzz among fans. The global livestream event, which took place recently, unveiled the teaser promotional video, introduced the main cast, and confirmed the 2026 premiere date for the series.

The anime will feature a talented voice cast, including Shogo Sakata as Johnny Joestar, Yลhei Azakami as Gyro Zeppeli, Kaito Ishikawa as Diego Brando, Rie Takahashi as Lucy Steel, and Kenta Miyake as Steven Steel. These actors bring a wealth of experience and are sure to deliver compelling performances.

The teaser promotional video offers a glimpse into the epic and bizarre race that forms the backbone of the story. Riders from around the world gather in the Wild West for the race of the century. Johnny Joestar, a former jockey paralyzed from the waist down, comes to spectate and momentarily regains the ability to walk while watching a duel fought by Gyro Zeppeli. Desperate to learn more about this power, Johnny joins the race alongside Gyro and embarks on an extraordinary journey.

The anime is being directed by Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi, who previously co-directed “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.” Toshiyuki Kato, known for his work on “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean,” serves as the series director. Yasuko Kobayashi is returning to oversee the series scripts, and Daisuke Tsumagari, the animation director from “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind,” is designing the characters. Yugo Kanno is composing the music, and Yoshikazu Iwanami is the sound director.

Netflix will exclusively stream the anime globally, making it accessible to fans worldwide. The streaming service has a history of successfully debuting “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” anime adaptations, including “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean,” which was released in three parts starting in December 2021.

Viz Media has licensed the manga in English and released the first volume digitally and in print on May 27. The third volume was released on September 23. Viz Media describes the first volume as follows: “Riders from around the world gather in the Wild West for the race of the century! Johnny Joestar, a former jockey paralyzed from the waist down, comes to spectate, and momentarily regains the ability to walk while watching a duel fought by Gyro Zeppeli. Desperate to learn more about this power, Johnny joins the race alongside Gyro and embarks on the most epic and bizarre race to ever cross the American frontier!”

The manga, originally launched by Hirohiko Araki in “Weekly Shonen Jump” in 2004, moved to “Ultra Jump” in 2005 and concluded serialization in 2011. It consists of 24 volumes, which are part of the overall “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” manga series.

The “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” franchise has seen various adaptations, including video games, a stage musical, and live-action adaptations of Araki’s spinoff manga “Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan.” The upcoming anime adaptation of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run” promises to be another exciting addition to the franchise.
