Exciting News: Daemons of the Shadow Realm Anime Set for 2026
Fans of captivating anime narratives are in for a treat as a new series is on the horizon. The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa’s manga, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, is set to premiere in April 2026. The series will span two consecutive cours, providing ample time to delve into the rich and mysterious world created by Arakawa.
During a recent panel at New York Comic Con, Crunchyroll unveiled an English-subtitled trailer that not only confirmed the premiere date but also introduced key staff members who will bring this story to life.

At the helm of this project is Masahiro Andล, known for his work on Sword of the Stranger, who will direct the anime at Bones Film. Noboru Takagi, renowned for his scripting in Kingdom and Golden Kamuy, will oversee the series scripts. Nobuhiro Arai, celebrated for his character designs in Bungo Stray Dogs, will serve as the chief animation director. Completing the creative team is Kenichiro Suehiro, who will compose the music, bringing his expertise from projects like Golden Kamuy and Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-.
Crunchyroll will be the exclusive platform to stream the anime, ensuring fans worldwide can enjoy the series from its debut.
The manga, published by Square Enix Manga & Books, offers a glimpse into the intriguing story of Yuru and his twin sister Asa. Set in a remote mountain village, the narrative unfolds with Yuru living a seemingly idyllic life while Asa is confined to a cage, performing a mysterious duty. The village’s secrets and the true nature of Asa’s imprisonment are yet to be revealed, promising a tale full of mystery and depth.
Hiromu Arakawa, the mastermind behind Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon, launched Daemons of the Shadow Realm in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in December 2021. The manga’s 10th compiled book volume was released on July 11, 2025, further building the anticipation for the anime adaptation.
