Experience Zombie Land Saga in 4DX: November 21 Japan Screenings

The team behind the anime film Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise announced that the movie will have 4DX screenings in select theaters across Japan on November 21. This immersive experience promises to bring the thrilling world of zombie idols to life in a way that traditional screenings cannot. The film, which premiered on October 24, has already made a significant impact, ranking at number 8 in its opening weekend and grossing approximately 97,269,200 yen (around $638,800) in its first three days.

The movie features a returning cast, with Daisuke Ono voicing the new character Naomasa Amabuki. The film is directed by Takafumi Ishida and Takeru Sato, both of whom served as episode directors for the original Zombie Land Saga series. The screenplay is written by Shigeru Murakoshi, known for his work on The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse. The animation is overseen by chief animation directors Fumihide Sai and Jinshichi Yamaguchi, who also worked on the original series, with Kasumi Fukagawa handling the character designs. Yasuharu Takanashi returns to compose the music, and Yuriko Waki serves as the animation producer.

The original Zombie Land Saga anime, produced by MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames, premiered in October 2018. The series follows Sakura Minamoto, a young woman who dreams of becoming an idol but is tragically hit by a car and wakes up as a zombie. She is then recruited by Koutaro Tatsumi to join an idol group composed of zombies from various eras of Japanese history. The anime was streamed by Crunchyroll and Funimation, with the latter also providing an English dub.

The success of the original series led to a sequel, Zombie Land Saga Revenge, which premiered in April 2021 and ran for 12 episodes. This sequel was also streamed by Crunchyroll and Funimation, with Funimation offering an English dub starting in July 2021.

The anime’s popularity has spawned various spin-offs, including a stage play titled Zombie Land Saga Stage de Do-n!, which premiered in September 2020 at Sogetsu Hall in Tokyo. The play, originally scheduled for March 2020, was delayed due to the pandemic but eventually featured four performances. Additionally, the anime inspired a side-story manga titled Zombie Land Saga Gaiden: The First Zombie, written and illustrated by character designer Kasumi Fukagawa. The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine, starting in May 2021, and concluded with its third compiled book volume in December 2022.
