The magical girl phenomenon returns to television as Puella Magi Madoka Magica prepares for a major wave of new content. A TV edition of The Movie Part 1: Beginnings and Part 2: Eternal, condensed into 11 episodes, will air starting October 12 on MBS/TBS networks in Japan. The announcement arrived alongside a fresh promotional video:
Originally airing in 2011, Madoka Magica transformed the magical girl genre with its dark narrative and striking visuals. The series later expanded with two compilation films in 2012 and a sequel film, Rebellion, in 2013. Now, anticipation grows for Walpurgisnacht: Rising, the next cinematic chapter, scheduled for February 2026 after multiple delays.

Director Yukihiro Miyamoto leads the upcoming film, working alongside SHAFT and the original creative team, including Gen Urobuchi as scriptwriter and Yuki Kajiura composing the haunting score.
Beyond the screen, the franchise continues expanding with Magia Exedra, a new smartphone game arriving next spring following a delay to refine its quality. The original Magia Record spin-off, though concluded, demonstrated the series’ enduring appeal before wrapping up its Japanese service this year.
With the TV broadcast reviving past entries and the next film on the horizon, Madoka Magica’s legacy remains as potent as ever.
