Exciting News: Kindergarten WARS Manga to Become an Anime Series
In a thrilling announcement, Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed that Yu Chiba’s popular manga, Kindergarten WARS, is set to be adapted into a television anime. The news was accompanied by an illustration from the manga’s creator, Yu Chiba, to celebrate the occasion.
The upcoming anime will feature Atsumi Tanezaki as Rita and Kentarล Kumagai as Doug, bringing the beloved characters to life on screen.
Kindergarten WARS, also known as Yลchien Wars, follows the adventures of Rita, a former legendary assassin who now works at a kindergarten for the children of world leaders. Her mission is to protect these youngsters from potential assassins, but her overwhelming strength is matched only by her weakness for handsome men.
The manga is available digitally on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus website. Yen Press published the first physical volume in April 2025, describing the story as follows:
Rita is Convict 999, a former legendary assassin who now works at a kindergarten for the children of world leaders. Her job is to protect the schoolchildren from the clutches of would-be assassins sent after them! But even with her overwhelming strength, Rita has a weaknessโshe’s head-over-heels for good-looking men!
Yu Chiba launched Kindergarten WARS on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app and website in September 2022. The manga’s 15th compiled book volume was released on August 4. The series entered its final arc in March and has already amassed over 1.7 million copies in circulation.
In addition to the main series, Chiba also launched a spinoff manga titled Yลchien Wars -LUKE-, which focuses on the character Luke. This 180-page story was released in November 2024.
