The production team behind the upcoming anime adaptation of Shisui Meikyou and tef’s popular light novel series, “Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon: My Trusted Companions Tried to Kill Me, But Thanks to the Gift of an Unlimited Gacha I Got LVL 9999 Friends and Am Out For Revenge on My Former Party Members,” has unveiled a character promotional video. The video features the character Light, voiced by Nina Tamaki.
The anime is set to premiere on October 3 on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS11. It will also be available for streaming on d Anime Store, U-NEXT, and Anime Hลdai starting at 12:00 a.m. JST on October 3 (effectively, October 4). HIDIVE will stream the anime as it airs.
The anime features a talented cast and crew:
Katsushi Sakurabi, known for his work on “Flying Witch” and “The Betrayal Knows My Name,” is directing the anime at J.C.STAFF. Hiroshi Ohnogi, who has worked on “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” and “Kekkaishi,” is in charge of the series scripts. Yukie Suzuki, who designed characters for “Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-,” is responsible for the character designs. Yoshikazu Iwanami, known for his work on “Ajin,” “Fate/Zero,” and “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure,” is the sound director. Ryล Takahashi, who composed music for “High Card” and “Wind Breaker,” is handling the music composition.
Additional staff includes Tei, who performs the opening theme song “Sen Yori Kaminari Ya, Sarariya Takaki,” and Nowlu, who performs the ending theme song “Shirogarasu.”
The story revolves around Light, who is betrayed by his former comrades and finds himself in the deepest part of the Abyss, the most dangerous dungeon in the realm. Using the Unlimited Gacha, his sole magical skill, he summons powerful allies to help him seek revenge on those who betrayed him.
Shisui began serializing the story on Shลsetsuka ni Narล in April 2020. The first print volume, illustrated by tef, was published by Hobby Japan in May 2021, with the 12th volume released on April 18.
Takashi Ohmae launched a manga adaptation on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website in May 2021. The manga’s 17th compiled book volume was published on August 7. Seven Seas licensed the manga.
