Azumanga Daioh: The Complete Collection Hits Blu-ray
Fans of the beloved anime series Azumanga Daioh have a reason to celebrate. Sentai Filmworks has announced the release of the complete collection of the 2002 series on Blu-ray Disc, set to hit stores on December 9. This eagerly awaited release will feature both English dub and Japanese audio, accompanied by English subtitles.
The Blu-ray set promises to deliver the full Azumanga Daioh experience, capturing the humor and charm that made the series a fan favorite. The anime follows the misadventures of Yukari Tanizaki, a somewhat inexperienced teacher, and her eclectic group of students. Each character brings their unique quirks to the classroom, from the tomboyish Tomo to the tall but gentle Sakaki, the clumsy Osaka, and the mature Yomi. Adding to the chaos is Chiyo, a child genius who is five years younger than her classmates. The series is a delightful mix of everyday school life and the unexpected, making for a never-ending adventure in education.
This Blu-ray release marks the first time Azumanga Daioh will be available on Blu-ray in North America. Previously, the anime was released on DVD by ADV Films in 2004. Sentai Filmworks also released the series on DVD in 2016 as part of its Sentai Selects line, offering both English-subtitled and English-dubbed formats.
In addition to the anime, the original four-panel manga by Kiyohiko Azuma was published in North America by ADV Manga in 2003-2004. Yen Press later re-released the manga series, ensuring that fans could enjoy the source material alongside the animated adaptation.
Sentai Filmworks has a busy December planned, with several other anime releases on the horizon. Fans can look forward to the Gushing Over Magical Girls season 1 Steelbook, the Trinity Seven complete collection, the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? season 4 premium box set, the Ambition of Oda Nobuna complete collection, and the Flower and Asura complete collection.

ADV Films previously released the anime on DVD in 2004. Sentai Filmworks then released the anime as part of its Sentai Selects line on DVD in 2016. The release had both English-subtitled and English-dubbed formats. This new release marks the first Blu-ray Disc of the anime in North America.
