Catch the Revised On-Gaku Anime Film September 19 Release

Experience the electrifying sound of teenage rebellion with the soon-to-be-released “On-Gaku: Our Sound” film, a rock ‘n roll journey that’s sure to leave you craving an encore. This isn’t just a film; it’s an unbranded phenomenon. Fans will be thrilled to know that the brush-up version of “On-Gaku: Our Sound” is hitting theaters. This new release comes with over 200 cuts refined by director Kenji Iwaisawa personally.

Dive into the transformation of Iwaisawa’s original vision, meticulously polished over half a year for an immersive experience. The revamped version premieres at Tokyo’s Shinjuku Musashinokan theater on September 19, perfectly timed with the debut of Iwaisawa’s latest cinematic endeavor, “100 Meters.”

Check out the awesome poster representing the new edition, capturing the raw energy of a band ready to rock the movie screen. This film is set to move audiences worldwide, offering a stark yet captivating glimpse into the slacker comedy genre with a heavy dose of musical/magical beautifully layered endearment.

Kenji Iwaisawa, renowned for his unique animated shorts like “Fukurai-cho, Tunnel Roji no Otoko,” and “Big Boss,” directed “ON-GAKU: Our Sound.” The talent extends beyond the director’s chair; the esteemed Hiroyuki Ohashi lend his skills to character designs and overall supervision, bringing the animated characters to life with authentic charm.

The original “On-Gaku: Our Sound” was a hard-fought project, started with a crowdfunding campaign in 2018. Despite initial financial challenges, the film’s potential resonated with fans, raising over 4,129,000 yen through the Makuake platform.

Since its premiere, “On-Gaku: Our Sound” has been racking up accolades. The film claimed the grand prize at the Ottawa International Animation Festival. If accolades were the yardstick for a film’s merit, “On-Gaku” has scored big. It didn’t stop there—the film continued its winning streak, capturing the audience’s fancy and receiving awards at the Annecy and Mainichi Film Awards.

The rock soundtrack is also a standout, crafted by “The Dresscodes,” the same musical unit behind the theme song for Gantz:O. This film ensures that each frame is as dynamic as its rock ‘n roll soundtrack and ear for VIP audience engagement.

The roots of “On-Gaku” run deep, tracing back to the 2005 self-published manga by Ohashi. The story centers around delinquents who, despite their lack of musical background, embark on a rock ‘n’ roll odyssey. Ohta Publishing eventually recognized this diamond in the rough and brought the manga to a wider audience in its 2009 collection.
