The 9th Annual Astra Film Awards, presented by the Hollywood Creative Alliance, recently concluded with a flourish, celebrating the best in cinema and animation. Among the standout winners was KPop Demon Hunters, which claimed multiple accolades, including Best Animated Feature, Best Voice Over Performance, and Best Original Song.
The ceremony, held on Friday, saw KPop Demon Hunters triumph over stiff competition in the Best Animated Feature category. The film faced off against notable contenders such as Arco, In Your Dreams, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2. Additionally, KPop Demon Hunters secured the Best Voice Over Performance award for Arden Cho’s portrayal of Rumi and the Best Original Song award for “Golden.”
While KPop Demon Hunters was also nominated for Best Sound in the Astra Creative Arts Awards, it narrowly missed out, with Sinners taking the prize. The Hollywood Creative Alliance, formerly known as the Hollywood Critics Association, oversees four distinct award categories: the Astra Creative Arts Awards, the Astra Film Awards, the Astra Podcast Awards, and the Astra TV Awards. The organization comprises a diverse group of industry professionals, including critics, journalists, actors, producers, podcasters, publicists, writers, and other creatives.
In previous years, the Astra Awards have recognized significant talent. For instance, Hayao Miyazaki was honored with the Best International Filmmaker award in 2024. The Astra TV Awards, held in June 2025, saw Dragon Ball Daima win Best Anime Series, while Aleks Le was awarded Best Lead Voice-Over Performance for his role as Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-.

The first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle anime film received the “Animation is Cinema” honorary award at the Hollywood Creative Alliance’s 9th Annual Astra Film Awards on Friday. The film was also nominated for Best Animated Feature, but lost to Kpop Demon Hunters. The two films competed against Arco, In Your Dreams, Little Amélie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2 in the category.
