The event introduced the main voice cast for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Jinushi’s popular manga, “Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You.” The announcement was accompanied by a captivating promotional video featuring the main cast.

Manga UP! Global added the manga to its lineup in April 2023. The story revolves around Sasaki, an overworked middle-aged office worker whose days are filled with monotonous corporate tasks. His only solace comes from smoking and seeing Yamada’s cheerful face at the nearby supermarket. One evening, after a particularly exhausting day, Sasaki finds that Yamada is not on duty. Disappointed, he searches for a smoking area but finds none. Just as he is about to leave, a girl in a biker jacket named Tayama invites him to a secret smoking spot.
Jinushi launched the manga on X/Twitter in March 2022, and it began serialization in Square Enix’s Big Gangan magazine in August 2022. The seventh compiled book volume of the manga was released on July 25.
Comikey started releasing the manga in English digitally in May 2023, and Square Enix Manga & Books began its English release in February 2024. The fifth volume was shipped on August 12. Additionally, the manga is available in English on BookWalker.
The manga achieved notable success, securing 8th place in the 16th Manga Taisho awards in 2023.
