Dokodemo Door Anime Spinoff Renewed for Second Season

The web anime brand Sukima no Anime has revealed that the short anime series Dokodemo Makibao, a spin-off of the Midori no Makibao franchise, will be returning for a second season. The new episodes are set to premiere on Wednesday, October 8.

The promotional video for the upcoming season, titled Dokodemo Makibao ~World Tour~, introduces both new and returning cast and crew members. The video can be viewed below:

Ikue Otani will join the cast for the second season, reprising her role as Makibao’s younger sister, Makibako, from the 1996 television series Midori no Makibao. Inuko Inuyama, Shigeru Chiba, Toshiharu Sakurai, and FROGMAN will also return from the first season.

FROGMAN will direct the new season, collaborating with Tsukasa Nishiyama and overseeing the script at DLE in partnership with KDDI. Naotoshi Nakajima and Yuh Ochiai are writing the scripts, while Kyลhei Matsuno will return to compose the music.

The second season of Dokodemo Makibao will debut on October 8 and will be available for streaming on YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram every Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. JST (Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. EDT). This season will follow Makibao and his friends as they train around the world to defeat their arch-rival, Cascade. The series will feature unique races and challenges from various countries, including a Beer Carrying race in Germany, a rodeo tournament in America, and a “big battle with aliens” in Antarctica.

The first season of Dokodemo Makibao debuted on December 16 and began streaming its 24th episode on March 13. Alongside the net anime shorts spin-off series Alps no Rลjin Heidi no Ojฤซ-san, which debuted on December 18, these two anime were part of the “second season” of the Sukima no Anime brand.

Tsnumaru debuted the manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1994, and it concluded in 1998. The Midori no Makibao anime aired in Japan for 61 episodes from 1996 to 1997. The Blu-ray Disc box set for the anime featured a new animated adaptation of the finale of the original manga when it was released in July 2022.
