The highly anticipated 2026 installment of the beloved anime series, Doraemon, has unveiled exciting details about its upcoming film. Titled “Eiga Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjล,” which translates to “Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil,” this film is set to premiere on February 27. The announcement also introduced two new guest voice actors who will bring unique characters to life.
Shลya Chiba will lend his voice to El, a soldier from the Mu Federation. El’s mission is to keep a watchful eye on Doraemon and his friends as they explore the depths of the sea. Additionally, Ryล Hirohashi will voice the Mizunaka Buggy, an amphibious vehicle that is one of Doraemon’s many ingenious gadgets.
The upcoming film marks the 45th 2D anime feature in the Doraemon series, excluding the 3D CG film “Stand By Me Doraemon.” This new adventure is a remake of the classic 1983 film, “Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil.”
Tetsuo Yajima, known for his work on “Pokรฉmon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle,” “Pokรฉmon the Movie: The Power of Us,” and “Pokรฉmon XY,” returns to direct this film. He has previously contributed to several Doraemon television episodes and films, including “Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s New Great Adventure into the Underworld,” “Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Steel Troops: The New Age,” and “Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Chikyลซ Symphony.”
Isao Murayama, another veteran of the Doraemon television series, has penned the screenplay for this new film. Murayama’s extensive experience includes work on “Witchy Precure!,” “Star Twinkle Precure,” and “Bakugan.”
The previous film in the series, “Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Esekai Monogatari” (Doraemon: Nobita’s Art World Tales), the 44th film in the franchise, opened in Japan on March 7, 2025. Fans can look forward to another thrilling adventure with Doraemon and his friends in 2026.
