A New Animated Adventure: “Megahanasenai ne Garura”
The Pokémon Company has unveiled a captivating new addition to its anime shorts series, “POKÉTOON.” The latest installment, titled “Megahanasenai ne Garura” (I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Her, Can I Kangaskhan), was released on Friday. This 7-minute short film follows the journey of a young girl named Yurado, who shares a deep admiration for her mother, a Pokémon battle commentator.
The story unfolds as Yurado and her beloved Pokémon, Kangaskhan, embark on a creative endeavor. While her mother is away at work, Yurado decides to build an impressive diorama, showcasing her artistic talents and her bond with her Pokémon.
The voice cast for this heartwarming short includes Rina Gorōmaru as Yurado, Risa Shimizu as Karimna, Cocoro Kikuchi as the child Kangaskhan, and Atsuko Yuya as the mother Kangaskhan. The creative team behind the short is equally impressive, with Takuya Hosogane directing and writing the script at Studio Colorido Kyoto. Rapparu served as the character designer, Nugiko Kutsushita as the art director, UNGUMMED as the concept artist, and Andrew Prahlow composing the music. The foley was handled by cubesato, while RUDO and mimoid were the animation producers.
The “POKÉTOON” series, which debuted in June 2020, has been a hit with audiences, featuring 17 entries to date. Each short in the series focuses on a single Pokémon, offering unique and engaging stories that highlight the diverse world of Pokémon.
