The world of Uma Musume is expanding with an exciting new premiere. The second cours (quarter of a year) of the television anime adaptation of Taiyo Kuzumi’s Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray manga will make its global debut. This anime is based on the popular Uma Musume Pretty Derby franchise by Cygames. The premiere will take place on October 4 at 1:30 p.m. PDT at the iconic TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California, as part of the Global Stage Hollywood event. Fans can RSVP for the free event.
The second cours will begin airing on October 5. It will be available for streaming on the It’s Anime FAST channel on Samsung TV Plus in North America, alongside other platforms. The anime is already streaming in select areas on Amazon Prime Video and the It’s Anime YouTube channel, covering regions such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia. The YouTube stream is also accessible in New Zealand and parts of Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, the anime can be watched on Anime Onegai in Central and South America, and on ADN in various European countries.
The opening theme song for the second cours will be performed by 10-FEET. The anime first premiered on April 6 on TBS and its affiliates, with a planned two-cours run and a break in between.
The anime is directed by Takehiro Miura, known for his work on Fate/Apocrypha and Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night. He is joined by Yûki Itô at Cygames. Aki Kindaichi is handling the series composition, while Takuya Miyahara and Keigo Sasaki, who worked on The Seven Deadly Sins, are designing the characters. Masafumi Sugiura, who also worked on Uma Musume Pretty Derby, is credited for the scripts. Junnosuke Itô is the manga planner.
Kuzumi launched the manga in Weekly Young Jump in June 2020. The 21st compiled book volume was published on September 19. The manga went on hiatus on June 5 to prepare for its final arc and returned on July 17. The story revolves around Oguri Cap as the protagonist.
The Uma Musume franchise is extensive, including three previous TV anime seasons, the Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Road to the Top net anime, and the Umayon spinoff television anime. A new anime film, Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Beginning of a New Era, opened in May 2024.
The Uma Musume Pretty Derby game launched in February 2021 for iOS and Android. Originally slated for a winter 2018 release, it was delayed to improve quality. The game also launched on PC via DMM Games in March 2021 and in English for iOS and Android devices on June 26.
