Idol Precure Movie: Meet the Star-Studded Cast

The upcoming film adaptation of “You and Idol Precure” has generated significant excitement among fans. This movie marks the 22nd installment in the beloved Precure franchise. During a recent live viewing event, it was revealed that Misato Matsuoka will voice not one but two pivotal characters in the film. In addition to her role as Cure Idol/Uta Sakura, Matsuoka will also lend her voice to a legendary idol who plays a crucial part in the story.

The film, titled “Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure”, hit theaters on September 12, 2025. Set on the enchanting Aiai Island during the Super Miracle Idol Festival, the story follows Uta and her friends as they participate in the universe’s premier idol event. Along the way, Uta encounters Tera, a red-haired girl with a strong dislike for idols. The movie also features appearances from characters of the franchise’s previous two main anime series, “Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure” and “Wonderful Precure!”.

The film’s cast includes Maaya Uchida as Tera and Ayane Sakura as Amas, adding depth and intrigue to the narrative. The five Precure girls, voiced by their respective cast members, will perform the theme song “HiBiKi Au Uta”.

The television series “You and Idol Precure” premiered on February 2, 2025, on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and 22 other affiliated channels across Japan. The story revolves around Uta Sakura, a middle school student with a passion for singing. One day, while walking her dog Kyu-chan, Uta discovers a mysterious peach-like object floating down the river. This encounter leads her to meet Purirun, a fairy seeking the legendary savior Idol Precure. Purirun’s home, Kirakiland, is under threat from Darkiine, the leader of the Chokkiri gang. When the Chokkiri gang steals the “sparkle” of Hanamichi Town’s residents, Uta decides to fight back, transforming into Cure Idol with her powerful song.

The series is directed by Chiaki Kon, known for her work on “Eiga HappinessCharge PreCure! Ningyo no Kuni no Ballerina” and “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal”. Yoichi Kato oversees the scripts, bringing his expertise from “Wonderful Precure! The Movie!” and “Aikatsu!”. Miho Sugimoto is responsible for character design, while Rie Iida and Tong Nian Chen handle the art direction. Kumiko Yanagisawa serves as the color key artist, and the music is composed by Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase, both renowned for their work in previous Precure series.

The film promises to be a thrilling addition to the Precure franchise, with its star-studded cast and engaging storyline. Fans can look forward to an unforgettable cinematic experience as they join Uta and her friends on their latest adventure.
