Lulutto Lily: Upcoming Magical Girl Anime Reveals Cast, Crew, and April Release Date

Bandai Namco Filmworks has unveiled a plethora of exciting details about their upcoming magical girl anime, “Mahล no Shimai Lulutto Lily,” also known as “Magical Sisters Lulutto Lily.” This new series is set to premiere in April 2026 and is a collaborative effort with Studio Pierrot.

The announcement included a pilot film, a teaser visual, the main cast, and the production staff. Fans can get a sneak peek into the magical world of Lulutto Lily through the pilot film, which offers a glimpse into the enchanting story and characters.

The anime will feature a talented voice cast, including May Tachibana, who will voice both Fลซ Nonoyama and her idol alter ego, Lily Konpeto. Tachibana brings to life the cheerful and naive elementary school girl, Fลซ, who is the younger of the Nonoyama sisters. Her straightforward personality and excitement are sure to captivate audiences.

Nao Ojika will voice Rui Nonoyama, Fลซ’s older sister. Rui is a composed middle school girl with a touch of flightiness. She once loved to sing but has become more reserved after a hospitalization during her elementary school years. Ojika will also voice Lulu Mashลซ, Rui’s idol persona.

Hiroki Nanami will bring to life Uguisu, a feline creature from the magical realm of Felix Star. Uguisu is known for its free-spirited nature and constant complaining.

Ai Kayano will voice Azuki, another feline creature from Felix Star. Azuki is usually calm but has a knack for using its charm to navigate through troubles.

Fลซka Izumi will voice Tลko Kandachi, an idol who started her own agency, Production Once More, to pursue her dreams. She scouted Lily for an idol debut after being impressed by her potential.

Fลซ Hirohara will voice Sena Aozono, a classmate whom Tลko invited to join Production Once More to form an idol unit and launch her career.

The directing duties fall to Shintarล Dลge, known for his work as an assistant director on “Arknights: Perish in Frost” and as an episode director on “Pet.” He is also credited with the original character designs. Yลซko Kakihara, who has worked on “Blue Box” and the 2022 and 2024 seasons of “Urusei Yatsura,” will supervise and write the series scripts. Character designs will be handled by Namiko Tori, Hirono Nishiki, and Asami Sodeyama, each bringing their unique styles to the project.

The story revolves around the Nonoyama sisters, Fลซ and Rui, who were once close but have grown distant. One day, Fลซ encounters a mysterious spaceship and gains magical powers, transforming into the adult she dreams of being. Simultaneously, Rui also gains magical powers and transforms. Their magic comes with two conditions: it can only be used for one year, and no one must know about it. Unaware of each other’s secrets, the sisters become active as idols, adding a layer of complexity to their relationship.

Studio Pierrot announced this magical girl anime project in June 2024. The series is the latest in a long line of magical girl television anime from Pierrot, including classics like “Magical Angel Creamy Mami,” “Magical Fairy Persia,” “Magical Star Magical Emi,” “Magical Idol Pastel Yumi,” and “Fancy Lala.”

In October 2024, Pierrot and Asahi Production signed a business partnership to strengthen the system for stable production of high-quality anime works. The companies aim to leverage their strengths to establish a system for producing higher-quality works and to grow through joint projects and resource sharing. Additionally, Pierrot and the South Korean animation studio Red Dog Culture signed a business partnership in August 2024 to jointly produce and invest in projects targeted at the global market.

Pierrot rebranded its second studio to “Pierrot Films” in July 2024. Pierrot Films is producing the fourth season of “Mr. Osomatsu” and “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity.”
