Fans of captivating narratives and enchanting animations are in for a treat as Kadokawa has released the teaser promotional video for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Punichan’s beloved light novel series, “The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom.” The teaser, unveiled on a Wednesday, offers a tantalizing glimpse into the world of Tiararose, the protagonist who finds herself in a whirlwind of unexpected romance and adventure.

The anime is set to premiere in January, promising an exciting journey for viewers. The cast will reprise their roles from the light novel series’ otome game adaptation, ensuring a seamless transition from the game to the screen.

The creative team behind this project is nothing short of stellar. Takayuki Hamana, known for his work on “Ace of Diamond,” “The Prince of Tennis,” and “The Witch and the Beast,” will direct the anime at Studio DEEN. Yoshimi Narita, who has contributed to “Twilight Out of Focus” and “Beet the Vandel Buster,” will handle the series scripts. Majiro, renowned for their character designs in “22/7,” “Barakamon,” and “Macross Delta,” will bring the characters to life.

The story revolves around a protagonist who is reincarnated as Tiararose, the villainess in her favorite otome romance game. Resigned to her fate, she accepts the in-game judgment event that awaits her. However, just as her fiancé breaks off their engagement, a marriage proposal event from Aquasteed, the crown prince of the neighboring country, throws a curveball into her plans.

Punichan began serializing this enchanting tale on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō service in 2016. The light novel series, illustrated by Akeno Naruse, has been published by B’s-Log Bunko and has sold over 5.6 million copies. The series also boasts a manga adaptation by Hoshina, serialized in Kadokawa’s B’s-LOG COMIC, with its 16th compiled book volume released on September 1. Additionally, the light novel series has inspired a two-volume spinoff series and a three-volume manga adaptation of that spinoff.

The story’s popularity has extended beyond literature and manga, inspiring a real otome game by OperaHouse for the Nintendo Switch in 2024. The game is available in English on PC via Steam, allowing a broader audience to experience the magic.

J-Novel Club publishes Namura Katamura’s manga adaptation of Punichan’s “From Villainess to Healer: I Know the Cheat to Change My Fate” and the light novel series “RVing My Way into Exile with My Beloved Cat.” Seven Seas Entertainment has also licensed Punichan’s “Fluffy Café in Another World” light novel series and manga, further expanding the reach of Punichan’s enchanting narratives.
