Exciting Reveal: The Upcoming Anime “Osananajimi to wa LoveCom ni Naranai”
The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Shinya Misu’s manga “Osananajimi to wa LoveCom ni Naranai” (I’ll Never Have a Romantic Comedy with My Childhood Friend) has kicked off its promotional campaign. The main promotional video for the anime began streaming on Monday, offering fans a sneak peek into what’s to come.
The video introduces Takehiro Urao as the voice of the protagonist, Yonosuke Sakai, and reveals key members of the production team. Additionally, it provides a preview of the ending theme song, setting the stage for the series’ debut.
Satoshi Kuwabara, known for his work on “Black Jack,” “The Cafรฉ Terrace and Its Goddesses,” and “The Quintessential Quintuplets,” will direct the anime at Tezuka Productions. Mitsutaka Hirota, who has worked on “Edens Zero” and “Rent-A-Girlfriend,” will supervise the series scripts alongside Mayumi Morita, who has also contributed to “Black Jack,” “The Cafรฉ Terrace and Its Goddesses,” and “The Quintessential Quintuplets.” Reina Iwasaki, known for her work on “The Dawn of the Witch” and “VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral after Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream,” will handle the character designs.

The manga follows the story of Eiyลซ, a high school student whose childhood friends, Shio and Akari, also attend the same school. Eiyลซ finds himself developing romantic and lustful feelings for them, despite knowing they have no interest in him. This internal struggle causes him constant worry. However, Shio and Akari harbor their own secrets, adding layers of complexity to the narrative.
The anime is set to premiere in January on TV Tokyo and five affiliated channels, including AT-X and BS NTV.
Misu launched the manga on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website in March 2022. The 18th compiled book volume was published on November 7.
