The anime adaptation of Tenma Asahi’s light novel series, “Saioshi no Gikei o Mederu Tame, Nagaikishimasu!” (In Order to Love My Most Beloved Step-Brother, I’ll Live a Long Life!), is set to premiere in January 2026. This exciting news was revealed on the official website for the “light anime” adaptation.
The production team shared a sneak peek of the anime with a screenshot on October 2, and on Thursday, they unveiled the key visual for the series. The visuals offer a glimpse into the world and characters that fans can expect to see when the anime debuts.
In June, IMAGICA Infos announced a collaboration with Dai Nippon Printing (DNP), CYBIRD, and Blue Rights to establish the boys love label Balloon. This new anime is the inaugural project under the Balloon label.
Yusuke Morishita is at the helm as the director, while Izumi Tezuka is overseeing the series scripts. The animation is being produced by IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with Kazuya Takahashi serving as the production supervisor. Additionally, DNP and Imagica Info’s Animation ID are involved in producing the project.
The light novel series follows Alba, who finds himself reincarnated as the son of a poor noble family. His new life takes an unexpected turn when his mother remarries, introducing him to his new step-brother, Orsis. Orsis is none other than Alba’s favorite character from an otome game he played in his previous life. Alba’s joy is short-lived as he realizes that his own character’s death in the game is the reason Orsis loses his smile. Determined to change his fate, Alba sets out to find a way to live longer.
AlphaPolis published the first volume of the light novel series in September 2021, with the fifth compiled book volume released on January 20. Additionally, Aki Tsujimoto launched a manga adaptation of the series on the AlphaPolis platform under the Andarche label in January 2025. The second volume of the manga was shipped on July 2.
DNP introduced the concept of “light anime” to streamline the animation production process, aiming for lower costs and a more timely schedule compared to traditional methods. The Balloon label has ambitious plans to produce four new titles in the 2026 fiscal year, with a goal of establishing a workflow capable of producing 10 or more projects annually by 2028.
