The English dub cast is shaping up to be a powerhouse of talent. At the helm, Caitlin Glass is directing the dub, ensuring that the voices bring the characters to life with authenticity and depth. Ken Takahashi is directing the anime at Gekkō, with Masamune Hirata serving as the assistant director. The series scripts are crafted by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, known for his work on “Flower and Asura” and “Dropkick on My Devil!” Character designs are the responsibility of Yōko Satō, who has previously worked on “Dog & Scissors” and “Saiyuki Reload Blast.” Nobuhide Hayashi is the sub-character designer, and both Satō and Hayashi are also credited as chief animation directors. The music is composed by Diosta inc. and High Speed Boy inc.
The story revolves around Alec Ygret, a magician who once supported the crown prince in his dungeon-clearing adventures. After being abruptly fired for his support magic skills, Alec finds himself jobless until an old friend, Yorha, reaches out for help in venturing back into dungeons.
Alto began serializing the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in October 2020, with the series ongoing. Kodansha published the first volume of the print version in August 2021, with illustrations by Yuunagi, and the fifth volume in August 2024. The manga adaptation, launched by Yuki Monji in July 2021, is also gaining traction, with the 17th compiled book volume released on October 9. Kodansha’s K MANGA app is releasing the manga in English, expanding its reach to international readers.
The opening theme song “Quest” is performed by Kiro Akiyama, while the ending theme song “Kakera” (Fragment) is by aruma.
