Wandance Anime English Dub to Hit Hulu in November
Fans of hip-hop dance and captivating anime narratives have something to look forward to this November. The English dub of the anime adaptation of Coffee’s “Wandance” manga is set to debut on Hulu. This exciting news was shared by Reuben Lack, Senior Manager of English Dubbing at Disney, on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
The English dub is already available on Disney+ in various countries, but American audiences will soon get their chance to enjoy it. The series follows the journey of Kaboku, a young man who discovers his passion for hip-hop dance after witnessing a mesmerizing performance by Wanda. This coming-of-age story is filled with thrilling dance scenes and endearing characters, making it a must-watch for fans of inspirational tales.
The English dub features a talented cast and crew. Anthony Bowling is at the helm as the director, while Madeleine Morris is handling the script adaptation. Reuben Lack is producing the dub at Iyuno Media Group, ensuring top-notch quality for viewers.
The anime first aired on TV Asahi and affiliated channels on October 8 and began streaming on Disney+ Star in Japan on October 9. Directed by Michiya Katล at Madhouse and Cyclone Graphics, the series boasts impressive visual effects and choreography. RIEHATA, a renowned dancer, choreographer, and singer, serves as the dance producer, bringing authenticity and flair to the performances.
The opening theme song, “Stare In Wonder,” is performed by the boy band BE:FIRST, while the ending theme, “Wondrous,” is brought to life by the female dance group ELSEE. Both performances add an extra layer of excitement to the series.
Kodansha USA Publishing describes “Wandance” as a story about Kaboku, a boy who has always followed the expectations of others but finds a new sense of freedom and purpose through hip-hop dance. The manga, launched in 2019, has been serialized in Afternoon magazine and is also available on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app. The 14th compiled book volume was published on September 22, with the 13th volume released in English on August 12.
