The latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump has officially concluded the run of Tatsuya Suganuma’s unconventional prison comedy manga, Nice Prison. The series, which captivated readers with its unique premise, wrapped up in the magazine’s 41st edition.
MANGA Plus, Shueisha’s digital platform, continues to offer the English version of this quirky story about an inmate born behind bars who fights to restore order in a chaotic penitentiary. The protagonist, Horo Mitsuboshi, takes on dangerous criminals while maintaining his reputation as the prison’s most well-behaved resident.
Originally debuting in April, Nice Prison quickly gained attention for its fresh take on the prison genre. Shueisha released the first collected volume in September, featuring bonus content in the form of a special one-shot. The concluding second volume is scheduled for release in November.
In related news, Weekly Shonen Jump revealed that Ato Sakurai will debut a new one-shot manga titled “Kiki Kaikai” on Shonen Jump+. The creator previously gained recognition for If Witch, Then Which?, a supernatural comedy that concluded in 2020 after running for nearly a year in Monthly Shonen Gangan.
Sakurai’s recent work, Phantom Wolf Sub-Warfare, completed its four-volume run in October 2024. The action-packed series first appeared on Sunday Webry’s digital platform in 2023, showcasing the artist’s versatility across different genres.
