Discover Season 2 of Kakuriyo: New Cast and Theme Songs Revealed

The official website for Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- has unveiled the main promotional video for the upcoming second season of the anime. This video offers a sneak peek at both the opening and ending theme songs for the new season, “Toryanse” and “Namida no Recipe” (The Recipe for Tears), respectively. The talented Nao Toyama, who voices the protagonist Aoi, will be performing both songs. Additionally, the website announced a new cast member joining the series.

Asaki Yuikawa will be voicing Takechiyo, a character who will appear in the second season.

The anime is set to premiere on Tokyo MX on October 1. For viewers outside of Japan, Crunchyroll will be streaming the second season in various regions, including North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS, and India.

The second season will be directed by Joe Yoshizaki, known for his work on The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows, at the studio GONZO, which also handled the first season. Joining the production this time is the studio Makaria. Tomoko Konparu, who has worked on series like NANA and Kimi ni Todoke – From Me to You, will be overseeing and writing the scripts. Hidemi Katsura will take on the role of character designer, while Noriyo Goro will be in charge of the art setting and initial color-check art boards. Yi Nong Chen will serve as the compositing director of photography, and Satoshi Motoyama will direct the sound. Takuro Iga, known for his work on Oshi no Ko and WATATEN!: an Angel Flew Down to Me, will be returning to compose the music with Flying Dog.

The first season of Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- premiered in April 2018. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and Funimation provided an English dub. Funimation also released the anime on home video in 2019.

The series follows Aoi, a college student who inherited the ability to see spirits from her late grandfather. Aoi is a skilled cook who one day encounters a god and the master of the Tenjin-ya inn. Due to her grandfather’s debts, she is taken away and told she must become the god’s bride. Aoi, however, declines this offer and instead chooses to work at the Tenjin-ya to pay off her grandfather’s debt.

The novel series, written by Midori Yuma and illustrated by Laruha, was launched in Kadokawa’s Fujimi L Bunko imprint in 2015. The 12th volume was published in March 2022.

Tsugaru Toba launched a new manga adaptation of the novels in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in January 2023. The manga’s ninth compiled book volume was published on July 30.

Additionally, there is a separate ongoing manga adaptation by Waco Ioka, which launched in Kadokawa’s B’s-LOG COMIC magazine and website in April 2016. The manga’s 11th volume was published in November 2024. Viz Media has licensed this manga and is releasing it under the title Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-. The 10th volume was shipped on March 11.
