New Cry Anime Film Announced for Popular Girls Band Series

Exciting News: A New Film in the Works for the Beloved “Girls Band Cry” Series

Fans of the heartwarming anime “Girls Band Cry” have reason to celebrate. Just before the release of the two-film compilation, the official website unveiled a teaser visual on Tuesday, confirming the production of a brand-new film. This announcement has sparked excitement among viewers who have grown attached to the series’ relatable characters and their emotional journeys.

The anime, produced by Toei Animation, delves into the lives of young women navigating the challenges of modern life. The story revolves around a high school dropout who aims to enter university while working alone in Tokyo. Another character faces betrayal from her friends, leaving her uncertain about her future. A third girl, abandoned by her parents, struggles to survive in the city through part-time jobs. Despite the world’s constant disappointments, these characters find solace and belonging in music, singing their hearts out to express their dreams and hopes.

The television series premiered in April 2024 and ran for 13 episodes. Toei Animation released the anime digitally in North America on August 13, 2024. Crunchyroll began streaming the series on November 6, making it accessible to a global audience.

The anime is already set to receive a two-film compilation. The first film, “Seishun Kyลsลkyoku,” will premiere on October 3, followed by the second film, “Naa, Mirai,” on November 14.

Indonesia’s Catchplay+ streaming service started streaming the anime on May 31, 2024, with both Indonesian and English subtitles, marking it as the first service to offer official English subtitles for the series. In Thailand, Cartoon Club announced in late June 2024 that it would begin streaming the anime in July, featuring a Thai dub, making it the first international dub for the title.

The cast members Mirei and Natsu went on a temporary hiatus due to health reasons last July. The remaining three main cast membersโ€”Rina, Yuri, and Syuriโ€”continued performing. Mirei and Natsu resumed their dialogue recording work by April 2025.
