The upcoming television anime adaptation of Yuritaro’s “Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary” has unveiled exciting news for fans. The series, titled “Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai,” is set to premiere in January 2026 on TV Tokyo, along with its affiliates AT-X and WOWOW. Alongside this announcement, the production team has released a new commercial video, key visual, and introduced additional cast members.

The main roles will be voiced by Azusa Tachibana as Kaya-chan and Maaya Uchida as Chie-sensei. The anime will be directed by Hiroshi Ikehata at East Fish Studio, with Shigeru Murakoshi overseeing the series scripts. Character designs are handled by Tarō Yamada and Hiroyuki Moriguchi, while the music is composed by Kohta Yamamoto and Shun Narita. Yukio Nagasaki serves as the sound director.
The manga, which inspired the anime, follows the adventures of Kaya-chan, a kindergarten student with a secret ability to see and vanquish evil spirits. The story takes a twist when Chie-sensei discovers Kaya-chan’s hidden power and the challenges that come with it. The manga is published by Shinchosha and has been well-received, with Seven Seas releasing the first volume in April.
The anime promises to bring the thrilling and heartwarming tale of Kaya-chan to life, with a talented cast and crew dedicated to delivering an unforgettable viewing experience.
