Kenshi Yonezu’s “IRIS OUT” to Kick Off U.S. Premiere of “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc”
The much-anticipated film “Chainsaw Man โ The Movie: Reze Arc” is set to hit U.S. theaters on October 24, with an exciting twist. The official YouTube channel for Kenshi Yonezu has released the opening movie, featuring his theme song “IRIS OUT.” This film is based on the Reze Arc of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular manga “Chainsaw Man.”

Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has secured worldwide theatrical rights for the film. The company will debut the movie in U.S. theaters on October 24, a few days ahead of its originally planned October 29 release. Special screenings in RealD 3D will also be available. The film will open in the United Kingdom on October 29 and has already screened in over 80 countries on September 24.
In Japan, the film premiered on September 19 in 421 theaters, with midnight screenings in major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido. Additionally, the film offers immersive experiences with MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema screenings. The distributor, TOHO, anticipates the film could earn approximately 5 billion yen (about US$34 million) during its theatrical run.
The movie made a strong debut, replacing “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Akaza Sairai” at the top of the box office. As of October 5, it has sold 1.96 million tickets, earning a cumulative total of 2,989,518,900 yen (about US$20.19 million). On its opening day in Japan, the film sold over 272,000 tickets, generating over 420 million yen (about US$2.8 million).

Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada are performing the ending theme song “JANE DOE,” while Yonezu also handles the film’s theme song “IRIS OUT.” Maximum The Hormone’s “Hawatari Nioku Centi” (2-Hundred-Million-Centimeter-Long-Blades) is featured as an insert song in the film. The band has released a longer version of the track, previously only available in a 90-second version for the television series.
The television anime series premiered on TV Tokyo and five other affiliated channels, as well as on Amazon Prime Video in October 2022. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Tatsuki Fujimoto, known for “Fire Punch,” debuted “Chainsaw Man” in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018. The manga’s first part, the “Kลan” (Public Safety) arc, concluded in December 2020.
