The highly anticipated anime adaptation of CLAMP’s beloved manga, Magic Knight Rayearth, is set to grace screens once again. The official website for the franchise has revealed exciting news: the new anime series will debut on TV Asahi and its affiliated channels in 2026. Fans can also get a sneak peek with a newly released teaser visual.
The teaser visual offers a glimpse into the magical world of Cephiro, where the story unfolds. The manga follows the adventures of three high school girlsโHikaru, Umi, and Fuuโwho are transported to Cephiro during a class trip to Tokyo Tower. There, they meet the mage Clef, who informs them that the world is in peril. Princess Emeraude, whose prayers sustain Cephiro, has been kidnapped by the priest Zagato, pushing the realm to the brink of collapse. The girls are bestowed with magical powers and must unite to save Cephiro from destruction.
CLAMP’s original manga, Magic Knight Rayearth, was serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine from 1993 to 1996, spanning six volumes. The manga’s popularity led to two television anime seasons: the first aired from October 1994 to March 1995, and the second, titled Magic Knight Rayearth 2, ran from April to November 1995. Additionally, a three-episode original video anime project, simply titled Rayearth, was released in 1997, offering an alternate retelling of the story.
In the United States, the television anime series was first released on VHS and DVD by Media Blasters. Discotek Media later licensed the anime in 2014 and released it as a complete collection on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2017, although the OVA series was not included in this release.
