Unveiling the Spy×Family Bus Hijacking Saga in Latest Anime Preview

The highly anticipated third season of the anime adaptation of Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family manga is set to dive into an exciting new arc. In a recent promotional video, Toho Animation revealed that the bus hijacking arc will commence next Saturday, November 8.

The third season of Spy x Family kicked off on October 4 at 11:00 p.m. on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, TV Hokkaido, and TV Kyushu. The series also aired on BS TV Tokyo on October 5. Crunchyroll is streaming the new season globally, excluding Asia, as it airs in Japan. The English dub of the season began streaming on October 18.

Yukiko Imai, who previously directed episodes for the past seasons, is at the helm of the third season. She is working with Wit Studio and CloverWorks, taking over from Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Takahiro Harada, who directed the second season. Yuki Takeuchi and Tomomi Sugimoto are handling the art setting, while Keita Watanabe serves as the CG director. Rina Koguchi is the editor for this season.

The opening theme song is “Hi o Mamoru” (Protect the Light) performed by Spitz, and the ending theme song is “Actor” by Lilas Ikuta.

The first season of the anime premiered in April 2022, with the second half airing in October 2022. The second season began in October 2023 and ran for 12 episodes. Additionally, the anime film SPY x FAMILY Code: White opened in Japan in December 2023.

The original manga, written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, follows the story of master spy Twilight, who is tasked with the impossible mission of getting married and having a child to infiltrate an elite private school. Unbeknownst to him, the wife he chooses is an assassin, and the child he adopts is a telepath.

Viz Media is publishing the manga in English, both digitally and in print. Shueisha is also posting the manga in English on its MANGA Plus service. The manga has inspired a stage musical that ran from March to May 2023, with a second stage musical scheduled to run from September to December this year.
