Unveiling the Opening Artist for the Upcoming “Kunon the Sorcerer” Anime
The anticipation for the television anime adaptation of Umikaze Minamino’s light novel series “Kunon the Sorcerer Can See Through” is building. On Monday, the production team revealed that Isekaijoucho will be performing the opening theme song, titled “Rakenaria no Yume” (Dream of Rakenaria).
The anime is set to debut in January 2026 on Tokyo MX, BS Asahi, and WOWOW, promising viewers a magical journey into the world of Kunon Gurion.
The voice cast features Saori Hayami as the protagonist Kunon Gurion, Maaya Uchida as Kunon’s loyal maid Iko Round, and Akari Kitล as Mirika, the ninth princess and Kunon’s fiancรฉe. The talented ensemble is sure to bring depth and charm to their respective roles.
Behind the scenes, Hideaki ลba, known for his work on “Love of Kill,” “I’m in Love with the Villainess,” and “Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me,” is directing the anime at Platinum Vision. Yuki Enatsu, who has contributed to “Unlimited Fafnir,” “Tight-rope,” and “Saint October,” is handling both the scriptwriting and supervision. Character designs are being crafted by Yลko Satล and Toshimitsu Kobayashi, who have previously worked on “Love of Kill,” “I’m in Love with the Villainess,” and “Saiyuki Reload Blast,” among others. The musical score will be composed by Shunsuke Takizawa of TRYTONELABO.
Yen Press is bringing the light novel series to English readers, offering a glimpse into the story of Kunon, a young man born blind who aspires to create new eyes for himself using water magic. After just five months of study, Kunon has already surpassed his teacher and continues to hone his magical abilities. His talents extend beyond mere sight, allowing him to sense colors, create useful items, and even summon a cat. His extraordinary skills catch the attention of the royal court, earning him a place as a disciple to the most powerful magician in the land. The question remains: can Kunon achieve his ultimate goal?
The original story was launched on the Shลsetsuka ni Narล website in August 2021 and has since gained significant popularity, topping the general yearly ranking in August 2022. Kadokawa began publishing the compiled novel volumes in March 2022, with illustrations by Laruha. The seventh volume was released on March 10, and the eighth volume is scheduled for December 10.
Additionally, a manga adaptation by La-na started serialization in Kadokawa’s Comic Alive magazine in April 2022. The sixth manga volume was released on May 22, with the seventh volume set to hit the shelves on December 23.
