Fans of the musical anime film “The Obsessed” are in for a treat. Two new clips have been released, offering a glimpse into the enchanting world of the movie. These clips, showcasing a song and a pivotal scene, have been shared by Bandai Namco Filmworks, the studio behind the adaptation of Shinji Ishii’s beloved novel “Toritsukare-otoko.”
The first clip introduces viewers to the ethereal song “Snowish,” performed by the character Cielo. Hayato Kakizawa lends his voice to Cielo, bringing the song to life with a touch of magic. The track was produced by atagi, a member of Awesome City Club, marking a significant contribution to the film’s soundtrack.
The second clip delves into the heartwarming first encounter between Giuseppe and Cielo. This scene captures Giuseppe’s tender care for baby Cielo, even going so far as to learn mouse language to communicate with the tiny creature. The clip beautifully sets the stage for the emotional journey that unfolds in the film.

“The Obsessed” is set to hit Japanese theaters on November 7. The film will also be screened at the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival, adding to its growing anticipation.
The cast features Masaya Sano from Ae! group as Giuseppe and Moka Kamishiraishi as Pechka. Sano and Kamishiraishi will also contribute to the film’s soundtrack with their vocals. Additionally, atagi from Awesome City Club is making his debut in film scoring with five original songs, including the theme song “Fanfare.”
Wataru Takahashi, known for directing several “Crayon Shin-chan” films, is at the helm of “The Obsessed.” The script is penned by Naoyuki Miura, who has worked on notable projects like “Fujoshi” and “Ukkari Gay ni Kokuru.” Character designs are handled by Masatsugu Arakawa, renowned for his work on “Windy Tales” and “Medabots Spirit.”
The original novel, “Toritsukare-otoko,” was published in 2001 and tells the story of Giuseppe, a man known for his fleeting obsessions. His life takes a turn when he falls in love at first sight with Pechka, a balloon seller. With the help of his mouse friend Cielo, Giuseppe uses his past obsessions to slowly win Pechka’s heart.
