The promotional video, released on Wednesday, introduces a new cast member who will bring depth and intrigue to the narrative. Fans can look forward to seeing Ryota Suzuki in the role of Akiya Sanada, a character who adds a layer of complexity to the story. Akiya, once the star of the school’s basketball team, faces a dramatic shift in his life after an injury and a mysterious influence from an upperclassman lead him to join the literature club.

Sumire Morohoshi will lend her voice to the dual roles of Sunao Aikawa and her replica, Nao. Sunao, a second-year high school student, often sends her replica to school when she feels unwell or simply doesn’t want to attend. The anime is being directed by Ryuichi Kimura at Voil, with a talented team behind the scenes. Tomoko Shinozuka, known for her work on “Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku” and “You are Ms. Servant,” is handling the series scripts alongside Misaki Morie. Eiji Abiko, renowned for his character designs in “Cells at Work! Code Black” and “Mr. Osomatsu,” is responsible for the character designs in this project.
The anime is set to premiere in 2026, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. The novel series, published in English by Yen Press, delves into the heartfelt story of a replica who discovers love and identity. The narrative won the grand prize in the 29th Dengeki Novel Prize in 2022 and has since gained a dedicated following.
Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint began publishing the novel series on February 10, 2023, with the fifth volume set to be released soon. Additionally, Momose Hanada has been serializing a manga adaptation in Dengeki Maoh magazine since April 2023, with the fourth compiled book volume also set to be published soon. The manga is available in English through Kadokawa’s BookWalker service.
