Set years after the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” series, the story unfolds when an Earth commander defects to a new faction formed from the remnants of Neo Zeon. A mercenary group is then hired to pursue her, setting the stage for an intense and immersive adventure.
The Japanese version of the anime features a stellar cast, while the English dub brings together a talented ensemble of voice actors. The anime first debuted in October 2024 for Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3S headsets, giving early adopters a taste of what’s to come.
Kenichi Suzuki, known for his work on “SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors” and “Gundam Evolve,” directs the anime. The script is penned by Ryōji Sekinishi, who also worked on “Mobile Suit Gundam UC.” Character designs are handled by Tsukasa Kotobuki, renowned for his work on “Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island” and “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.” Mechanical designs are overseen by Mika Akitaka, who has contributed to “Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory” and “Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: The Afterglow of Zeon.” The music is composed by Yoshiya Ikeda, with Sadayoshi Fujino serving as the sound director.
Atlas V and Bandai Namco Filmworks are the driving forces behind this VR anime, ensuring a high-quality experience for fans. Additional staff members include Shōko Nakagawa, who performed the film’s theme song “Across the World.”
Pierre Zandrowicz of Atlas V and Ken Iyadomi of Bandai Namco Filmworks first unveiled this interactive, immersive adventure project at Anime NYC in November 2023. Zandrowicz described it as “an immersive adventure that leverages the best of both worlds,” neither a game nor just a narrative experience. This collaboration marks the first time Sunrise has partnered with a French company, Atlas V.
Get ready to experience “Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom” in a whole new way on PlayStation VR2 this November 21.
