The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Shuuichi Shigeno’s MF Ghost manga is set to return with its third season, debuting on January 4. This exciting news was revealed in a promotional video released on Friday. Fans can look forward to a thrilling continuation of the series, which delves into the world of high-speed racing in a future Japan dominated by self-driving cars.
The promotional video not only confirmed the debut date but also introduced the theme songs for the upcoming season. Yรป Serizawa will be performing the opening theme song, “Timeless Power feat. MOTSU,” while Himika Akaneya will handle the ending theme, “Yokan no Tochรป Prod. Taku Takahashi (m-flo)” (En Route to a Hunch). The video provides a sneak peek into the opening theme, giving viewers a taste of what to expect.
The third season of MF Ghost will premiere on Tokyo MX and BS NTV at 11:30 p.m. on January 4, with subsequent airings on RKB Mainichi Broadcasting later that same evening. The series will also make its debut on TV Aichi on January 6, YTV on January 8, and Animax on January 23.
In addition to the debut date and theme songs, the official website also unveiled a striking visual for the new season, further building anticipation among fans.
The MF Ghost series is set in the 2020s, where self-driving cars are a common sight in Japan. The story revolves around Kanata Livington, a top graduate from a prestigious racing school in England who returns to Japan to participate in the MFG, a high-stakes racing circuit that has captured global attention.
The first season of MF Ghost premiered in October 2023 on Tokyo MX, BS11, and RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, with additional airings on Animax, TV Aichi, Shizuoka Broadcasting System, TV Setouchi, Tochigi TV, and YTV. The anime was also streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan.
The second season followed in October 2024, airing on Tokyo MX, BS11, and RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, as well as YTV, TV Aichi, and Animax. The season was streamed on Lemino and Prime Video in Japan, with Crunchyroll providing an English dub.
Shuuichi Shigeno, known for his work on Initial D, launched the MF Ghost manga in Kodansha’s Young Magazine in September 2017. The manga has faced several hiatuses due to the author’s health but resumed in February 2023. The series concluded on February 17, with the 23rd and final compiled book volume released in Japan on June 6.
