The GA Fes 2026 event, which took place on Sunday, unveiled an exciting new project: a feature-length anime film based on Jougi Shiraishi’s popular light novel series, Wandering Witch – The Journey of Elaina, also known as Majo no Tabitabi. The teaser video below showcases Kaede Hondo reprising her role as the protagonist, Elaina, recording fresh dialogue for the upcoming film, much like she did for the previous television series.

The first light novel in the series was published by SB Creative in April 2016. Yen Press is responsible for bringing the light novel series to English-speaking audiences. The original television anime adaptation, which premiered in October 2020, was streamed by Funimation as it aired in Japan. The English dub of the series began streaming in December 2020.
The manga adaptation, illustrated by Nanao, started its serialization on Square Enix’s Manga UP! app in November 2018. The sixth and final volume of the manga was released on July 5, 2023. Square Enix Manga & Books licensed the manga series, describing it as:
> A gentle and beguiling tale of a young witch’s travels, based on a best-selling light novel series. Ever since she was a little girl reading books of magic and adventure, Elaina has dreamed of following in the footsteps of her childhood idol, the witch Nique, and living a life of travel. Now a full-fledged witch herself, Elaina sets off on a journey without a destination, wandering far and wide to see the world. With each new place she sees and person she meets, Elaina’s world grows a little bit richer.
The global app and site for Manga UP! are also publishing the manga in English.
