The highly anticipated second season of the hit anime series “The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows” was officially announced during the GA FES 2026 livestream on Sunday. The announcement featured an exciting promotional video and a new visual, giving fans a sneak peek into what’s to come.
The first season of the anime, based on the light novel series by Sakaku Hishikawa and illustrated by Daburyu, premiered on Tokyo MX and BS11 on April 3, 2025. The series quickly gained a dedicated following, and Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired, also offering an English dub for international audiences.
The anime boasts an impressive cast and crew. Joe Yoshizaki, known for his work on “Chiikawa” and “Kiyoneko,” directed the first season at Makaria Inc. Taika Miyagi served as the scriptwriter, while Denpūgi and Yoshihiro Sawada were the character designers. Hiroshi Gouroku is the art director, and Harumi Fuuki composed the music. Moe Kawada was the color designer, Kōhei Tanada was the director of photography, and Hiroto Morishita was the sound director.
The story of “The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows” revolves around Zenos, a young man from the slums who faces numerous challenges due to his impoverished background. After an encounter with a healer, Zenos dedicates himself to mastering the art of healing. He eventually joins an adventurer’s party but is later kicked out when his teammates deem him useless. Determined to make a difference, Zenos opens an underground clinic, where his exceptional healing skills quickly gain recognition, even attracting the attention of the royal palace.
J-Novel Club is releasing the novel series and Ten Jūnoichi’s manga adaptation in English. The story, which began on the Shōsetsu ni Narō website, has eight volumes of novels and five volumes of manga published in Japan. Additionally, a webtoon adaptation from GA Comic launched in the summer of 2024, further expanding the series’ reach.
