The upcoming television anime adaptation of Masakuni Igarashi’s manga “Tune In to the Midnight Heart” has revealed two additional cast members. The announcements were made on Sunday, introducing Yûki Wakai and Nao Tōyama to the voice cast.
Yûki Wakai will voice Aiko, a close friend of the main character Rikka who once formed a band together. Nao Tōyama will portray Ao Hyakusai, the “ace” of the VTuber group Blue-Box. Both actors shared their excitement through video messages upon being cast.
The anime features a talented team behind the scenes. Masayuki Takahashi, known for his work on “Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig,” is directing the series at Gekkō. Yukie Sugawara, who has worked on “Overlord,” is handling the series scripts. Character designs are being created by Tomoyuki Shitaya, who has previously worked on “Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma” and “Bakuman.”
The opening theme song, “Tsuki ni Mukatte Ute” (Attack Toward the Moon), will be performed by Suisei Hoshimachi, while the ending theme song, “Koe no Kiseki” (Trails of Voices), will be performed by Soala.
The anime is set to premiere on January 6 and will air on Kansai TV and Fuji TV’s newly announced “Ka-Anival!!” programming block on Tuesdays at 11:00 p.m. JST. Additionally, it will air on BS Asahi starting January 9.
Kodansha’s K MANGA service is publishing the manga digitally in English. The story revolves around Arisu Yamabuki, who finds solace in the voice of a radio host named “Apollo.” Years later, as a second-year high school student, Arisu sets out to find Apollo, leading him to a school broadcasting club where he meets four girls with similar aspirations.
Masakuni Igarashi launched the manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in September 2023. The 10th volume was released on September 17, and Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the manga, releasing the third volume on September 2.
