Meet the Star Detective Precure! Cast, Crew, and Theme Song Artists for the February 1 Anime Premiere

The highly anticipated Star Detective Precure! anime, the 23rd installment in the beloved Precure franchise, has officially launched its website, revealing exciting details about the main cast, staff, theme songs, and a captivating commercial video. The anime is set to debut on February 1.

The story revolves around Anna Akechi, a second-year middle school student residing in Makoto Mirai Town. On her birthday, she travels back in time from 2027 to 1999, where she encounters her companion fairy, Pochitan. In 1999 Makoto Mirai Town, Anna meets Mikuru Kobayashi, another second-year student who dreams of becoming a great detective. Together, they witness the mischief caused by the Phantom Thieves, who steal people’s precious belongings. The duo transforms into Precure detectives, using their deductive reasoning skills to protect the smiles of those around them.

The anime will feature a talented voice cast:

Hikari Senga will voice Cure Answer/Anna Akechi, a straightforward and considerate second-year student who time-traveled from 2027. She is known for her honesty and her inability to ignore those in trouble.

Kaede Hondo will portray Cure Mystic/Mikuru Kobayashi, a clumsy yet straightforward second-year student with a wealth of detective knowledge and aspirations to become a great detective.

Nao Toyama will voice Cure Arcana Shadow/Ruruka Moria, a mysterious girl who works with the Phantom Thieves despite being a Precure. She has a laid-back and unconventional personality.

Emiri Kato will voice Pochitan, the fairy companion of Cure Answer and Cure Mystic.

Hina Yomiya will voice Mashtan, Cure Arcana Shadow’s fairy companion.

Yuki Kaji will voice Jet Senpai, a self-proclaimed genius inventor who created the PreKit, a tool that supports the Precure detectives.

The anime will premiere on February 1 on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and its affiliate channels at 8:30 a.m. JST. It will also air on BSS San-in starting February 8 at 6:15 a.m.

The opening theme song, “Heart ni Hint! Detective Precure!” (Hint In My Heart! Star Detective Precure!), will be performed by Ami Ishii. The ending theme song, “Naze? Nazo?! ANSWER” (Why? Mystery?! ANSWER), will be performed by Akane Kumada and Yuka Masui.

The series director is Koji Kawasaki, known for his work on Hugtto! Precure. Isao Murayama, who has worked on Witchy Precure! and Star Twinkle Precure, is in charge of the series scripts. Akane Yano, known for her work on The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You and Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki, will design the characters. Miki Imai, who worked on Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure, is in charge of art design. Eiji Hamano, known for his background art in various Precure films, is the chief art director. Satoshi Takezawa, who worked on Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure! Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru Kirakkilive! and Eiga Maho Tsukai Precure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun!, is in charge of color design. Yoshiyuki Anzai, who worked on Eiga Maho Tsukai Precure! Kiseki no Henshin! Cure Mofurun! and You and Idol Precure!, is the compositing director of photography. Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase, who composed the music for Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure! Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru Kirakkilive! and You and Idol Precure!, are composing the new series’ music.

The production is credited to ABC TV, ABC Animation, ADK Emotions, and Toei Animation. Kanako Tada from ABC Animation and Masaya Aramaki from Toei Animation are the producers of the anime.

The second season of Petitcure ~Precure Fairies~, a short anime spinoff focusing on the familiar mascots of the Precure franchise’s magical girls, premiered on October 9.

You and Idol Precure! the Movie opened in theaters on September 12.

The You and Idol Precure! television anime premiered on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and 22 other affiliated channels throughout Japan on February 2, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs.
