The upcoming anime adaptation of the popular light novel series “Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon” has revealed additional cast members. This series, known for its unique blend of betrayal and revenge, is based on the light novel written by Shisui Meikyou and illustrated by tef. The anime will delve into the story of Light, the protagonist who seeks vengeance against his former party members after a brutal betrayal.
The newly announced cast will voice the members of the Concord of the Tribes party, who played a pivotal role in Light’s downfall. These characters are central to the narrative, as Light’s quest for revenge is driven by their actions.
The anime is set to premiere on October 3 on several major channels, including Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS11. Additionally, it will be available for streaming on d Anime Store, U-NEXT, and Anime Houdai starting at 12:00 a.m. JST on October 3, which translates to October 4 in many other time zones. HIDIVE will also stream the series as it airs, ensuring global accessibility.
The creative team behind the anime includes Katsushi Sakurabi as the director, Hiroshi Ohnogi handling the series scripts, and Yukie Suzuki designing the characters. The sound direction is overseen by Yoshikazu Iwanami, while Ryō Takahashi composes the music, promising a rich and immersive audio experience.
The opening theme song, “Sen Yori Kaminari Ya, Sarariya Takaki,” is performed by Tei, and the ending theme, “Shirogarasu,” is by Nowlu, adding to the series’ musical appeal.
The light novel series, originally serialized on Shosetsuka ni Narou in April 2020, has gained significant popularity. The first print volume, illustrated by tef, was published by Hobby Japan in May 2021, with the 12th volume released on April 18. The manga adaptation, launched by Takashi Ohmae on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website in May 2021, has also seen considerable success, with the 17th compiled book volume published on August 7.
The story revolves around Light, who, after being betrayed by his comrades, finds himself in the deepest part of the Abyss, the most perilous dungeon in the realm. Using his Unlimited Gacha skill, he summons powerful allies and builds his own kingdom, ultimately seeking revenge on those who wronged him.
