Excitement is on the horizon for fans of classic anime! Global Content Company (GCC) and MediaOCD, the parent video post-production company. MediaOCD made an exciting announcement during GCC’s panel at Animation and Comic Convention 2025 on Friday. GCC will be releasing a fully authored 1080p HD remastered edition of Osamu Tezuka’s 1983 anime special _A Time Slip of 10,000 Years: Prime Rose_ on a Blu-ray Disc in early 2026. GCC and MediaOCD had successfully acquired the license from licensing and dubbing studio SkySet Entertainment. The eagerly anticipated release will be available via the MediaOCD Store, Crunchyroll Store, Amazon, and other retailers.
The new release will feature both Japanese and English audio, accompanied by a selection of special bonus features.
Earlier in the year, SkySet Entertainment released a 720p version of the series on Blu-ray Disc on June 14. This marked the anime’s debut in North America and its first English dub.
The story of the anime revolves around a supernatural entity known as Death Mask, which propels Kujukuri City, Japan, and Dallas, Texas, 10,000 years into the future. The once-thriving communities are transformed into a brutal battleground where only the strongest can survive. Enter Gai Tanbara, a determined individual who embarks on a perilous journey to challenge this tyrant’s control over time itself. Along the way, Gai encounters Emiya, a formidable warrior striving to liberate her city from the shadows. Together, they face the nightmarish landscapes of a fractured world while confronting the malevolent forces that threaten humanity’s very existence.
_The Time Slip of 10,000 Years: Prime Rose_ anime special, directed by renowned filmmaker Satoshi Dezaki, first aired in Japan on 21 August 1983 as part of the charitable program _24-Hour Television_. This captivating special is based on Tezuka’s _Prime Rose_ manga series, which serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1982 to 1983.
Osamu Tezuka, often referred to as “The God of Manga,” created numerous influential works that have left an indelible mark on the world of manga and anime. Among his iconic creations are _Astro Boy_, _Jungle Emperor Leo_, _Black Jack_, and _Princess Knight_. These groundbreaking works set the stage for future generations of storytellers and artists. Tezuka also founded the renowned Mushi Production studio, where he oversaw the production of many of his manga adaptations and original anime creations. Notably, _Astro Boy_ became Japan’s first half-hour animated series, pioneering techniques that shaped the aesthetics and styles of television anime.
Similarly, MediaOCD, established by Global Content Company founder in 2012. The company is recognized for its high-quality film restoration and production of Digital Cinema and Blu-ray Discs. Within the anime industry, MediaOCD is most known for its production of Discotek Media releases, but has also produced discs for companies such as ( Crunchyroll).
