Like a spellbound grimoire snapping open, Manga UP! Global unleashed Sōta Takahata‘s take on Ezogingitune‘s Cast-off Magic Tool Researcher is Actually an S-rank Mage (Hisentōshoku no Madōgu Kenkyūin, Jitsuwa Kikakugai no S-Rank Madōshi) this Saturday.
Here’s the alchemy behind the tale, per Manga UP!:
Werner—the Empire’s sharpest mind at the Sage’s Academy—gets axed by a chancellor who’d rather monetize his genius than honor it.
Chaos ensues. The Academy’s innovation dries up overnight; his theories resemble hieroglyphs to lesser minds.
Meanwhile, Werner flourishes. Dragons swoon. Royalty courts him. With spellbooks stuffed with forbidden knowledge and a parade of eager apprentices, he rewrites destiny on his own terms.
Takahata’s manga began its serialized incantation in Square Enix‘s Manga UP! in November 2023, with Zenji Yotsuya weaving the narrative threads. Volume 1 materialized in September 2024; Volume 2 emerges September 5.
Ezogingitune first conjured this world on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in January 2021, still unfolding. SB Creative binds the novels with Tomozero‘s artistry—Volume 4 solidified in February 2023.
