The official promotional video for the highly anticipated film, “Chainsaw Man: The Movie โ Reze Arc,” has begun streaming. This film is based on the Reze Arc of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular manga, “Chainsaw Man.” The video offers a sneak peek at the film’s ending theme song, “JANE DOE,” performed by the talented duo Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada.
Sony Pictures Entertainment has secured the worldwide theatrical rights for the film. The movie will hit theaters in the United States on October 24, a few days ahead of its originally planned release date of October 29. Additionally, the film will premiere in the United Kingdom on October 29 and in over 80 countries on September 24.
The movie had its debut in Japan on September 19. It will feature special midnight screenings in 12 theaters across major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido. Fans can also enjoy enhanced viewing experiences with MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema screenings.
Reina Ueda will voice the character Reze in the film. The story revolves around Denji, who has become the “Chainsaw Man,” a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima, Denji seeks shelter from the rain and encounters Reze, a cafรฉ worker.
The film’s staff includes a talented team dedicated to bringing the manga to life on the big screen. Kenshi Yonezu will also perform the theme song “IRIS OUT.” Additionally, Maximum The Hormone’s “Hawatari Nioku Centi” will appear as an insert song in the film. This version of the song, titled “Hawatari Nioku Centi (Zentai Suitei 70% Kaikin edit),” is an extended version that was previously featured in the television anime series.
The television anime series premiered on TV Tokyo and other affiliated channels, as well as on Amazon Prime Video, in October 2022. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. The story follows Denji, a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Fujimoto debuted the “Chainsaw Man” manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018 and concluded its first part, the “Kลan” (Public Safety) arc, in December 2020. The manga’s second part, titled “Gakkล-hen” (School Arc), began serialization on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service in July 2022. The manga has won the Best Manga award at The Harvey Awards for three consecutive years.
The manga has also inspired a stage play adaptation that ran in Tokyo and Kyoto from September to October 2023.
