Netflix has just dropped a treasure trove of updates for Shingo Yamashita’s highly anticipated anime film, Cosmic Princess Kaguya! The streaming giant unveiled the full voice cast for both the Japanese and English dubs, along with a captivating second trailer that offers a deeper glimpse into the film’s enchanting world.
The film, titled Chō Kaguya-hime! in Japanese, promises an extraordinary journey into the virtual realm of Tsukuyomi, where hopes and dreams intertwine. The story revolves around Iroha Sakayori, a 17-year-old high school student in Tokyo, who finds solace in the virtual world administered by the popular streamer Yachiyo Runami. Iroha’s life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters a mysterious, iridescent telephone pole that gives birth to a baby girl who rapidly grows into a young woman named Kaguya.
As Iroha helps Kaguya start her streaming career in Tsukuyomi, the two form a deep bond. However, their newfound friendship is threatened by ominous forces eager to reclaim Kaguya and return her to the moon. The film offers a fresh take on the classic tale of Princess Kaguya, blending modern elements with timeless storytelling.
The Japanese cast includes a lineup of talented voice actors, each bringing their unique charm to the characters. The English dub cast is equally impressive, ensuring that viewers worldwide can enjoy the film in their preferred language.

The streaming platform will release Cosmic Princess Kaguya! on January 22, giving fans just enough time to mark their calendars and prepare for this magical adventure. The film is a collaborative effort between Studio Chromato and Studio Colorido, with character designs by Hechima and Akihiro Nagae. The theme song, “Ex-Otogibanashi” (“Ex-Fairy Tale”), is performed by Saori Hayami as Yachiyo and composed by Ryo of supercell.
In addition to the film, Cosmic Princess Kaguya! is getting a manga adaptation by Tarō Yoneda, with the first two chapters set to launch in Kadokawa’s Comptiq magazine on January 9. A novel by Naruto Kiriyama, illustrated by Asao Urata, will also be released on January 30, with Yamashita overseeing both adaptations.
The film features songs by renowned Vocaloid producers, including Ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot, ensuring a rich and diverse musical experience.
