Fans of the beloved Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club series are in for a treat as the official YouTube channel for the franchise has unveiled the first five minutes of the second film in the Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai trilogy. This exclusive sneak peek was released on Sunday, offering a glimpse into what’s to come.

In addition to the film preview, the YouTube channel has also shared a new promotional video. This video, separate from the previously released trailer, celebrates the film’s upcoming release in Japan on November 7. The promotional video features exciting concert scenes of Setsuna and Rina, along with exclusive footage of Karin, providing fans with a deeper look into the film’s content.

The excitement doesn’t stop at the film’s release. On November 9, there will be special screenings at Marunouchi Piccadilly, where cast members will be in attendance. These live showings will also be broadcast in other theaters across Japan, allowing fans nationwide to participate in the experience. Furthermore, cheering screenings, which encourage audience participation, will begin on November 14 in 27 theaters. These screenings will feature seven different versions of retrospective and ending videos, with the first and eighth weeks showcasing the same versions, and the six weeks in between offering unique content. Attendees will have the chance to receive one of four different gift sets.

In the film, the beloved characters Karin, Ai, Setsuna, Rina, Shioriko, and Mia embark on a journey to the vibrant cities of Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe in Japan’s Kansai region. This adventure follows the first film in the trilogy, which opened in September 2024 and serves as the grand finale for the anime’s story.

The film trilogy is set after the two previous television seasons and the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Next Sky original video anime project. The main cast and staff are returning for this highly anticipated series, ensuring that fans will experience the same high-quality production they have come to expect.

The anime takes place after Isla returns to her home country. The club receives an invitation to the “School Idol GPX” contest, where contestants compete individually rather than by school, with performances distributed via an app. Six members from the club—Ayumu, Kasumi, Shizuku, Kanata, Emma, and Lanzhu—travel to Okinawa to compete. While many of them experience new encounters, Ayumu grapples with complex feelings about competing against her fellow club members.

The first season of the main Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club anime premiered on Tokyo MX, Bandai Channel, Line Live, and YouTube Live streaming services in October 2020. The second season followed in April 2023. The series has garnered a significant following, with Crunchyroll streaming the anime as it aired in Japan and later providing an English dub.
