Exploring the Contrasting Anime Casts of TV Producer Nobuyuki Sakuma

The upcoming anime adaptation of Kôcha Agasawa’s romantic comedy manga, “You and I Are Polar Opposites,” is set to debut on January 11. This series, known as “Seihantaina Kimi to Boku,” will feature television producer Nobuyuki Sakuma voicing the homeroom teacher for the main characters, Suzuki and Tani. Sakuma has expressed his enthusiasm for the original work, adding a layer of excitement for fans.

The series will air on MBS, TBS, and their affiliates on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. JST. Additionally, it will stream on ABEMA in Japan at 5:30 p.m. JST on Sundays. Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs and will also provide a same-day English dub. The series will also be available through partnerships with Animax Broadcasting Korea and Medialink.

The anime will be directed by Takakazu Nagatomo at Lapin Track, with Teruko Utsumi handling the scripts and serving as the animation producer. Mako Miyako will design the characters, while Naho Kozono will be the sub-character designer and chief animation director, alongside Sayuri Sakimoto. The music will be composed by tofubeats.

Chieko Nakamura will direct the art, with Tomoyuki Shiokawa serving as the compositing director of photography. Yuki Akimoto will be the color key artist, and Yuushi Koshida will serve as the 3D director. Masayuki Kurosawa will handle editing, and Wataru Osakabe will manage 2D design. SHOCHIKU anime will oversee the production.

The opening theme song, “Lose the Frames” (“Megane wo Hazushite”), will be performed by noa, while PAS TASTA will perform the ending theme song “Pure feat. Eriko Hashimoto.”

The manga, published by MANGA Plus in English, follows Suzuki, an energetic girl who is drawn to Tani, a quiet boy who can easily speak his mind. The story is described as a relatable rom-com that pulls at the heartstrings.

Agasawa launched the manga on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform in May 2022, after it initially debuted as a one-shot in January 2021. The manga ended in November 2024, with the eighth and final compiled book volume released in March 2025. Viz Media also publishes the series in English.

The manga has achieved significant success, with over 1.6 million copies in circulation, including digital copies. It ranked #3 in the 16th Manga Taisho Awards in 2023 and #7 in the 17th Manga Taisho Awards in 2024.
